I decided I'd jump on the "Resolution" bandwagon this year. After all its a familiar place; one in which I've fallen off of at least a dozen times or so over the course of my life. But this year I told myself would be different-or at least I'd hope so. I have to be frank with you, I didn't spend much time thinking about it, perhaps I should have but I decided to live on the wild side instead. So here's what I came up with in no particular order...
- Get In Shape- The retailers already know that's on most of our lists, but I'm determined not to let them suck me into their black hole of "buy this" to make it happen.
- Be a better steward of our finances- I've gotten much better over the last year with some hard core couponing, but I'd like to do more. I'm looking forward to utilizing the envelope system such as Dave Ramsey mentions at Financial Peace University.
- Build a stronger relationship with the Lord. Knowing Jesus as your personal Lord & Savior is great, but there is so much more to it. I have the desire to be more like him; and one of the ways to do that is to read his word daily- The Bible. This is also why I've decided to join the many others in the "Reading the Bible in 90 days challenge" .
- Be a better Wife & Mother- I want spend more quality time with my Dear Husband, savor each day with my little ones as they grow, and utilize creativity as we create new memories.
- Be a better manager of my time & become more organized- I am such a procrastinator at heart, its really a shame. I also seem to have an obsession with paper~ this too must end!
I'd say that's all in a nut shell. I've got my work cut out for me after all. But I was reminded of something as I scrawled down my list. The Lord wants me to succeed, so much so he gave me the following verses to stand on as a reminder.
1. 1Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
2. Proverbs 21:20
In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.
3. John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
4. Proverbs 31
5. Ecclesiastes 10:18
If a man is lazy the rafters sag; if his hands are idle, the house leaks
And lastly one verse that applies to all areas; Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.
Isn't that glorious!!
